Week 4 Key Injuries
Lamar Jackson left in a walking boot, Ja'Marr Chase is in the concussion protocol, and Saquon Barkley hurt his hamstring. Monday-morning status on each.
By Tyler Brandt, News Desk · October 5, 2026
Sunday sent Lamar Jackson, Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Saquon Barkley to the locker room. None has a final answer by Monday morning, but the early reads are better than the scenes looked.
Lamar Jackson: left ankle
Jackson turned his left ankle trying to escape a sack, when Jermaine Johnson II landed on it, and missed the second half after going 15 of 20 with two touchdowns. He left the stadium in a walking boot. Ravens coach Jesse Minter said he avoided a major injury and that there were "some talks" about sending him back out, and NFL Network reported he's believed to be day-to-day.
Tyler Huntley finished 8 of 9 and starts if Jackson sits. A boot sounds worse than day-to-day, so hold Lamar Jackson and let Wednesday's practice report decide. Huntley matters only in Superflex.
Chase and Higgins both left Cincinnati's loss
Chase's head hit the turf early in the second quarter after three catches for 27 yards, and he's in the concussion protocol. Tee Higgins, who had 11 catches for 157 yards, left in the fourth quarter with an adductor injury. He came back for one play on the final drive and couldn't continue, and the Bengals had no further word.
Joe Burrow threw 54 times, so the work has somewhere to go. Chase Brown caught 11 passes, receiver Dohnte Meyers drew nine targets, and tight end Mike Gesicki scored. A concussion can end in a week or last several, so plan as if Ja'Marr Chase is out until the protocol says otherwise.
Saquon Barkley: right hamstring
Barkley limped off at the end of a six-yard run with 11:34 left in the first quarter, rubbing the back of his right leg. He finished with two carries. The Eagles gave no update, and NBC Sports Philadelphia saw him walking normally as he left the stadium.
Tank Bigsby took 14 carries for 55 yards and Will Shipley added six. Philadelphia plays in London in Week 5, and Saquon Barkley's Wednesday practice tells you more than any guess today. If you own him, add Bigsby now.
Washington's quarterback room is down to its third option
Jayden Daniels missed his second straight game with his non-throwing elbow and has chosen not to have surgery. Marcus Mariota started, left early with a knee injury that ESPN lists as an MCL problem and a Doubtful tag, and gave way to Athan Kaliakmanis, the first quarterback from the 2026 draft class to take a regular-season snap. He went 15 of 33 with an interception. Receiver Jaylin Lane was carted off with what looked like a serious lower-body injury, and Terry McLaurin was inactive with a hamstring injury.
Nothing here gets fixed until Daniels is back, and nobody has given a date.
More from Sunday
Chiefs receiver Tyquan Thornton was carted off with an ankle injury after two touchdowns. Chargers receiver Ladd McConkey left early, reportedly with a foot injury, and finished without a catch. Bears running back Kyle Monangai hurt his thumb late after 30 carries, Patriots back Rhamondre Stevenson hurt his right knee in the final minute, Broncos receiver Pat Bryant was carted off with a leg injury, and Raiders receiver Jalen Nailor was ruled out with a concussion. We haven't seen a timeline reported for any of them as of Monday morning.
Two pass rushers with ACL injuries
ESPN lists Green Bay's Micah Parsons as out with a knee injury, an ACL, though he isn't on injured reserve yet. Giants edge rusher Brian Burns is on injured reserve with an ACL injury. IDP managers should read Thursday's Front Seven for the replacements.
Settled
Justin Jefferson and Breece Hall missed Week 4 as expected, and so did DeVonta Smith (hamstring), McLaurin (hamstring), Dallas Goedert (knee, MCL) and Jalen Coker (quad). Braelon Allen ran 14 times for 59 yards in Hall's place. Jadarian Price is on injured reserve with a chest injury and Zach Charbonnet is out with an ACL injury, so Emanuel Wilson became Seattle's lead back and scored 25.5. Caleb Williams is out three to four weeks with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, and Tyson Bagent started for Chicago.

FAQ
- Is a walking boot a bad sign for a quarterback?
- It can be, but teams also use one as a precaution for a sprain. Baltimore's own read, no major injury and day-to-day, matters more than the boot.
- How long does a concussion keep a receiver out?
- There's no set number. Players must pass the league's protocol step by step, and some return within a week while others miss several.
- Should I add the backup when a star leaves a game on Sunday?
- Only if he'll start and you have the roster space. Tank Bigsby already carried 14 times, so he earns the claim. Tyler Huntley doesn't unless you play Superflex.
