The Front Seven: Week 4
Five linebackers and linemen putting up real fantasy numbers this week, for the leagues that actually count defense.
By Derek Sallis · October 1, 2026
Most dynasty content skips defense entirely. If your league counts IDP, here is who the Week 4 board actually has up front. Points are Engine IDP scoring on the Wednesday, Sept. 30 projection run.
Devin Lloyd, LB, Carolina
Devin Lloyd projects for 17.4 points, the top number at linebacker. The stat log behind that is two weeks, not three: 8 solo tackles in Week 1, then 7 solo tackles, a sack, and 2 interceptions in Week 2. There is no Week 3 line, while other Carolina linebackers have one. Treat 17.4 as the model still pricing those two weeks, and check whether he is active before you start him.
Roquan Smith, LB, Baltimore
Roquan Smith sits at 11.8, and Baltimore hosts Tennessee. He has a tackle line in all three weeks: 5 solo and an interception in Week 1, 2 solo in Week 2, 3 solo and a sack in Week 3. A linebacker on a good defense against a winless team is about as safe a floor as this position offers. He is not in the top handful of linebacker projections. The floor is the reason he is here.
T.J. Watt, LB, Pittsburgh
T.J. Watt was projected for 11.1 on Wednesday. The schedule feed now has that Thursday game at Cleveland 27, Pittsburgh 24, still marked live, and Week 4 tackle stats are not in yet. Week 1 was 2 sacks and an interception. Week 2 was 1.5 sacks. Week 3 was one assisted tackle and a quarterback hit. The projection had not fallen with that quiet week.
Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco
Fred Warner projects for 10.8, and San Francisco draws Denver. Week 3 was his busiest line of the year, 8 solo tackles and 9 assists. The Week 4 matchups piece already has this defense as the one to fade on the other side of the ball.
Maxx Crosby, DL, Las Vegas
Maxx Crosby projects for 10.1. He is third among defensive linemen, behind Will Anderson Jr. at 12.7 and Jeffery Simmons at 11.2. Crosby's own log is front-loaded: 1.5 sacks in Week 1, then one solo tackle in each of the next two weeks. The projection still treats him as a weekly edge. The box score has been quieter since the opener.

FAQ
- How different is IDP dynasty value from offensive dynasty value?
- The scoring rewards volume more than splash plays. Tackles add up every week, while sacks and turnovers are streakier. A steady, high-snap linebacker is often a safer weekly asset than a boom-or-bust pass rusher.
- Do IDP players hold long-term dynasty value the way skill players do?
- Less predictably. Defensive roles shift with coaching changes and scheme more than offensive roles do, so track snap share and scheme fit closely rather than assuming a name holds its value.
- Where can I check IDP snap and tackle data myself?
- The live weekly projections tool covers linebackers, defensive linemen, and defensive backs alongside offensive skill players.
