By Jordan Vance
Las Vegas beat the Chargers 26–14 in the AFC West opener. Cody White, elevated from the practice squad the day before, caught two touchdowns.
Kirk Cousins completed 19 of 29 passes for 253 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. The Associated Press has him joining Ken Stabler in 1976 as the only Raiders quarterbacks with at least three touchdown passes in each of a season's first two games. Tre Tucker caught 5 of 7 targets for 119 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown on a busted coverage for the first score. White caught both of his targets, for 24 yards. The scores were 13 yards in the third quarter, which put Las Vegas ahead 17–14, and 11 yards in the fourth. His family was there. He played in Week 1 and did not catch a pass.
The Chargers fumbled six times and lost one. Justin Herbert completed 15 of 27 passes for 192 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. He also fumbled, and Keaton Mitchell recovered it at the Las Vegas 10. The next play was a 10-yard touchdown to Oronde Gadsden II, and Los Angeles led 14–10. Omarion Hampton lost a fumble for the second straight week. Jeremy Chinn returned it 43 yards to the Chargers' 16 with 3:52 left, and White's second score made it 24–14. A holding penalty produced a safety for the last two points. Hampton still ran 23 times for 94 yards and a touchdown, and caught 2 passes for 21. In his 100th NFL game, Jim Harbaugh fell to 0-2 for the first time in his college or pro coaching career.
Ashton Jeanty did not score. He ran 21 times for 48 yards and caught 4 of 7 targets for 15, 63 yards from scrimmage.
Fantasy winners: Cousins has three touchdowns in each of the first two games. Week 1 was 160 yards and two interceptions with those three scores. White's two touchdowns came on two targets after the elevation. Tucker's 119 yards and a score led the game. Hampton's 23 carries are the workload. The fumble is the second week in a row.
Fantasy questions: Herbert was 15 of 27 for 192 with two interceptions, after 17 of 27 for 209, a touchdown, and an interception in Week 1. Jeanty's carries and targets are in the box. The production was 48 and 15, with no score, after he ran for 102 and caught two touchdowns in the opener.
