Dynasty Trade Deadline Watch: What Barkley, Taylor and LaPorta Could Do to Your Roster
Dynasty trade deadline watch: Saquon Barkley and Jonathan Taylor could move by Nov. 10, and Sam LaPorta is threatening to leave Detroit. Marcus Reyes makes the calls.
By Marcus Reyes · October 22, 2026
Quick answer: Sell Saquon Barkley into Monday night if he scores. Hold Jonathan Taylor unless someone pays a first-round price, because a trade to a team with a lead back would hurt him. Hold Sam LaPorta, and buy him if an owner gets spooked by his contract comments.
The deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. ET. Three veterans are in play, and a trade shifts a player's value more through his role than through his team's record. Thursday's practice notes are in the dynasty daily.
Saquon Barkley: sell into the good game
Saquon Barkley is back at practice and in line to play Monday night against Dallas, which has the league's worst run defense at 149.8 rushing yards a game. He hurt his hamstring in the Week 4 loss to the Rams and has missed two games since. In his four appearances he has run for 182 yards at 5.1 a carry without a touchdown.
Philadelphia is 2-4, and Jalen Hurts is on injured reserve. ESPN's Ben Solak pitched a deal that sends Barkley to Houston for a 2027 third, a 2027 sixth, a 2028 second and Woody Marks. I would not count on it. That is a column idea, not an agreed offer. A trade now would leave Philadelphia with about $26.5 million in dead cap money in 2027, so the Eagles need a real offer to justify it.
He is 29, he has a hamstring problem, and he plays for a team that may sell. That is a profile that tends to lose value. Monday is the best matchup he will see all year, and a big game is the moment to sell. If he scores twice, take the offer. If he gets hurt again, your price is gone either way.
Jonathan Taylor: hold, and watch where he lands
The Colts are 2-4 and fired general manager Chris Ballard, and Jonathan Taylor is the name contenders keep bringing up. He is 27 and signed a two-year, $44 million extension in August with $39 million guaranteed. Daniel Popper of The Athletic named the Seahawks, Packers and Bengals as teams that could add a back. The Giants have been mentioned too. Nothing is agreed. Taylor said Thursday he has not given a trade any thought.
Taylor is the more valuable chip. He carried 21 times for 94 yards and a touchdown last week, and the model projects 16.4 points against Minnesota. Where he lands matters more than whether he goes. In Seattle he would join Zach Charbonnet, just activated off the PUP list, and Emanuel Wilson, while Jadarian Price is still on injured reserve. In Cincinnati he would share with Chase Brown. New York could make him the lead back.
I would not sell on rumor. If someone offers a first-round pick, take it. For anything less, wait for a trade, because the landing spot sets his price.
Sam LaPorta: the contract fight is not the story
Sam LaPorta is in the last year of his rookie deal. On the Pardon My Take podcast Wednesday he said the Lions are not showing the love, and that if he is not back after this season, "I'll go get paid somewhere else." Extension talks are stalled. Detroit has not announced a deal.
The model has LaPorta as the top tight end of Week 7 at 14.6 points against Green Bay, in one of the league's best offenses. A contract dispute rarely changes a player's production. A new team might, in either direction. If an owner in your league is spooked by his comments, buy him at a discount. If you own him, hold.
