Davante Adams Ruptured His Hamstring. Is He Still Worth a Dynasty Roster Spot?

Dynasty managers: Davante Adams will miss 6-10 weeks with a ruptured hamstring. Who gains in the Rams offense and whether to hold, sell or cut him.

By Tyler Brandt · October 19, 2026

Quick answer:Sell if a contender will pay. Hold only if you're contending too and have a spot to burn. In a rebuild, cut him for a younger stash. He is 33, his contract ends after this season, and he'll be back in December at best.

What happened

Rams coach Sean McVay said Monday that Davante Adams ruptured his hamstring and will miss six to ten weeks. Adams pulled up on a route late in Sunday's 18-16 loss to Arizona, with no one near him, and hobbled off. He didn't return. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the diagnosis.

Count from the Raiders game this week, which he'll miss. Six weeks puts him back around Week 13. Ten puts him back around Week 17, give or take a bye. In many leagues that is past the semifinals.

He was producing. Adams had 30 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns in six games, and he led the league in touchdown catches last season. He missed three games in 2025 with a hamstring injury and came back for the playoffs. This one is worse, and it's his second hamstring problem in two years.

Why sell

Age is the first reason. He is 33, and a ruptured hamstring is a long road back at that age.

Contract is the second. He signed a two-year, $44 million deal with the Rams before 2025, so it runs through this season. He'll be a free agent at 34, coming off a ruptured hamstring.

Timing is the third. Even if he returns on schedule, he gives you a few games at the end of the year, and you can't count on the playoffs.

That makes him a hard sell and a worse hold. A contender wants points in the next six weeks, and Adams can't give them. The best buyer is someone in a deep league who is stashing for December. Ask for a pick and take what you can get.

What to do with your roster

Contending, with an IR spot: Stash him only if your bench is strong. A WR2 in the Week 13 to Week 17 stretch is worth something, but not at the cost of the weeks before it.

Contending, no IR spot: Cut him or trade him. Use the slot on a receiver who plays this week.

Rebuilding: Cut him. A 34-year-old on an expiring contract is a poor bet to help you in 2027.

Who gains in the Rams offense

Puka Nacua gets the most. The Rams use three-tight-end sets a lot, and he has done well when Adams was off the field. The risk is coverage. Without Adams stretching the field, defenses can shade toward Nacua.

Konata Mumpfield is a fair waiver add if you need a body, but he doesn't earn much trust. Look at the tight ends too. Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson should see more snaps.

Terrance Ferguson may gain the most once he's back from injured reserve with his ankle injury. Check his return date before you spend a roster spot on him.

The Rams are 2-4, and they have lost their second receiver. Their pass game will lean harder on Nacua than any other player on the team.

FAQ

Six to ten weeks, according to Rams coach Sean McVay. He ruptured his hamstring on a non-contact play in Week 6. Counting from this week's game against the Raiders, he'd return around Week 13 at the earliest.
Should I drop Davante Adams in dynasty?
If you're rebuilding, yes. If you're contending and short on roster spots, trade him or cut him. Keep him only if you have an IR slot and a deep bench. He is 33, and his contract ends after this season.
Who benefits from the Davante Adams injury?
Puka Nacua should see the biggest jump in targets. Konata Mumpfield, Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson also move up. Tight end Terrance Ferguson could gain once he returns from injured reserve.
