Eagles 24, Titans 20: Barkley goes down, Hurts walks it off
By Jordan Vance
Saquon Barkley took a hit on the game's very first play, and Philadelphia won it anyway with a walk-off drive. The Eagles beat the Titans 24–20 after Jalen Hurts drove Philadelphia 65 yards in 1 minute, 56 seconds and hit Darius Cooper for the winning score with nine seconds left.
Barkley suffered a stinger on his very first carry of the day and spent most of the game in the locker room before returning to start the third quarter. He finished with 4 carries for 9 yards — his fourth career game held under 10 rushing yards. Tank Bigsby stepped into the lead role the moment Barkley went down, piling up 13 carries for 33 yards and a touchdown. Will Shipley also saw real work out of the backfield while Barkley was out.
Hurts threw two interceptions. The first, in the end zone, set up a Tennessee touchdown and briefly put the Titans ahead. The second set up the field goal that made it 20–17. In between, he carved up Tennessee's defense, finishing 26-of-37 for 264 yards and two touchdowns. DeVonta Smith was his top target all day, 10 catches for 117 yards and a score, good for 22.7 fantasy points. Philadelphia also lost tight end Dallas Goedert to a knee injury in the second quarter after he'd scored twice the week before — he finished with just 1 catch for 4 yards before going down.
Cam Ward kept Tennessee in it with his legs, running for two touchdowns to go with 183 passing yards, though he came up empty after the Cooper score with time almost gone. Tony Pollard led the Titans on the ground with 64 yards on 14 carries, and Tyjae Spears chipped in as a change-of-pace back.
Fantasy winners
Bigsby's usage the moment Barkley went down is the clearest waiver-wire signal of the week for Eagles handcuff value — he was the lead back in all but name for most of this game. Smith's target share with Hurts throwing this well makes him a locked-in weekly starter regardless of what happens in the backfield.
Fantasy questions
Barkley's stinger needs a real update before you trust him in Week 3 — he played through it, but a fourth career game under 10 rushing yards on essentially no volume is a red flag until there's more clarity. Goedert's knee is the other injury to track for Philadelphia's passing-game plans going forward.
