Bijan Robinson Signs Record Extension With the Falcons

Bijan Robinson is now the highest-paid running back in NFL history. Atlanta and Robinson agreed to a three-year extension worth up to $75 million Tuesday, with $51 million guaranteed — a position record. The deal keeps him in Atlanta through 2030 and ends a training camp hold-in that had kept him off the practice field while the sides finished the deal.

Robinson was set to play 2026 on the fifth-year option the Falcons picked up in April. Instead, Atlanta locked him up long-term, following the same pattern it used with two other core pieces of the offense this offseason — receiver Drake London got a four-year, $141 million deal earlier this offseason, and tight end Kyle Pitts signed a three-year, $54 million extension a few weeks later.

Why the Falcons Paid Up

Robinson just finished his best season. He rushed for 1,478 yards and 7 touchdowns on 287 carries in 2025, added 79 catches for 820 yards and 4 more scores, and earned first-team All-Pro on top of his second straight Pro Bowl. He's the centerpiece of an offense that's rebuilding around him under new offensive president Matt Ryan, and Atlanta made clear it isn't interested in finding out what life looks like without him.

The timing also mattered. Robinson's 2023 draft classmate Jahmyr Gibbs is running the same hold-in strategy in Detroit, and letting Robinson's price rise any further would have driven Gibbs' next contract even higher. Atlanta got ahead of it.

One thing worth watching: new head coach Kevin Stefanski's scheme leans more on under-center runs than Atlanta used last year, and Robinson was considerably more productive out of shotgun in 2025. That's a real adjustment, not a guarantee.

Dynasty Value: What Changes

Robinson already sits near the top of the running back board. His Dynasty Value Score is 9,928 out of 10,000 — second among all running backs in our catalog — built on elite marks across production, age, and draft capital. The 2026 Engine projection has him at 353.5 half-PPR points for the season, 21.4 points per game, the second-highest total of any back in our catalog behind only Christian McCaffrey.

Like the Olave deal, the contract itself doesn't move that score — production, age, and role already had him rated this way before the ink dried. What the extension does is remove risk. Robinson is 24 and now locked into Atlanta's offense through 2030, with no fifth-year-option uncertainty hanging over next offseason. For dynasty managers, that's the kind of security that makes an already-elite asset easier to hold long-term rather than something that changes his week-to-week outlook.
