Biggest Overreactions of Week 8: Five Dynasty Takes to Fade
Dynasty overreactions after Week 8: Swift's three touchdowns, Allgeier's big day, Emmett Johnson's 128 yards and what to do with Taylor and Jeanty.
By Marcus Reyes · November 2, 2026
One game is a story, not a trend. Week 8 gave us five stories that owners will treat as trends by Wednesday, and one that deserves the worry.
D'Andre Swift is not an RB1 because of three touchdowns
D'Andre Swift scored three times in Chicago's 34-17 win at Seattle and finished with 26.9 points. Look at how he got there. He ran 27 times for 69 yards, which is 2.6 a carry, and all three scores were short runs.
The 27 carries are a lot of work, and Swift will keep a heavy role. The touchdowns won't repeat. He averaged 16.0 a game before Sunday and our Week 9 projection is 16.9, so don't pay for the 26.9.
Add Allgeier, but don't pay for him
Tyler Allgeier ran for 147 yards and scored twice, and 63 of those yards came on one run. Without it he still had 84 yards on 10 carries, so he ran well. He got the work because Jeremiyah Love and Zonovan Knight both left hurt.
Start him this week with Love out. Don't trade a pick for him and don't drop Love, because one ankle injury doesn't end a rookie season.
Emmett Johnson is not a Kansas City starter
Emmett Johnson caught five passes for 128 yards and a touchdown, and he scored 22.8 against a projection of 3.1. He played 12 snaps, the fewest of his season, and one of his catches went 73 yards.
Kenneth Walker III is still the lead back. He scored 26 a game over his first five, then 7.7 and 10.4. Two quiet weeks are a dip, and our Week 9 board has Walker at 15.5 and Johnson at 9.0.
Jonathan Taylor's 4.7 means nothing
Jonathan Taylor scored 4.7 in a 42-7 loss at Jacksonville, yet he still played 79 percent of the snaps before garbage time, his highest rate since Week 3. Before Sunday he averaged 18.4.
The number to watch is a date. The NFL trade deadline falls on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and reports conflict on whether Indianapolis will move him. A trade to a contender could raise his value, and our Week 9 projection is 17.2 against Dallas.
One I won't call an overreaction: Ashton Jeanty
I'd love to tell you Ashton Jeanty's 8.8 points are noise. They aren't.
Mike Washington Jr. carried 25 times for 83 yards and took the goal-line work, while Jeanty ran twice for nine yards. Las Vegas won, but the split held from the first quarter on. Jeanty has also been off the injury report for two weeks, so health doesn't explain it either. He has now lost early-down work in consecutive games.
What I'd do: hold, but stop pricing him as an RB1. If an owner offers a first-round pick, I'd take it. If the offer is lower, wait for the Raiders to show how they plan to use Washington.

FAQ
- Is Allgeier worth a waiver claim in dynasty leagues?
- Yes, for Week 9. Love is out against Seattle, so Allgeier leads the Arizona backfield. After that it depends on Love's ankle and Knight's concussion.
- Should I trade Jonathan Taylor before the deadline?
- Not on one 4.7. He played 79 percent of the snaps before garbage time and averaged 18.4 a game before Sunday. Trade him only for a price you would have taken last week.
- Is Ashton Jeanty a bust?
- Not yet, but his role has shrunk for two games in a row. Watch his carry count in Week 9.
